As a kid growing up in the ever-distant 1990s, I used to love writing stories. That was my escape and my passion. Then, perhaps inevitably, STEM subjects, grown-up career choices, and the general thrust of life slowly took over, and all of that enthusiasm for storytelling was quietly buried somewhere.
Then, in 2025, with a lot of encouragement from my wonderful wife, and at the tender age of… well, let’s just say my back aches a lot more now… I self-published my first novel, Gildermog Hall. Gildermog Hall is a coming-of-age story that, to be honest, I genuinely don’t know how to categorise, but I hope may be quietly appreciated by a few.
Collared is my first project of 2026, and will hopefully be the first of a series of cosy mystery novellas that aren’t entirely serious, and are offered as a cheeky but affectionate nod to British villages and the fantastically quirky people that inhabit them.
The author tag doesn’t really fit me comfortably yet, so I’d prefer to think of myself simply as a guy who writes stories, and I would invite any of my readers (or potential readers) to think of me that way as well. The lovely thing about art is that there’s something for everybody, and I won’t be offended if I’m not your cup of tea. However, if you like what I write, and if you’d like to keep in touch or find out about my latest projects, the relevant links and details (and all that sort of malarkey) should be lurking somewhere below:
